The forest authorities are nothing short of incredulous and dismayed by this tragedy which is killing thousands of ducks and geese along the Maumee River Bay, located on Lake Erie . The phenomenon began in mid-February (2011): about two hundred birds had contracted a mysterious disease that has inhibited the motor control and caused the death.
